OSHA or the Occupational safety and health administration is a government agency of the United States Department of Labor. It was created in 1970 by Congress. It is to prevent working injuries, illnesses and deaths. It is used to give rules for the workplace. Most places where there are employees are under the rule of OSHA. Government workers are exempt from OSHA.

There are many changes in industrial safety that have been created under OSHA. Gaurds on all moving parts is one of them. There are generally a usage of guards that was expanded to cover all essentially moving parts where there is contact possible. There are laws that protect people from exposure to particular chemicals and dusts. There are many laws to protect people from chemicals and equipment. Some of them say that you use protective equipment. They make sure that you use protective equipment such as respirators, coveralls, and certain protective equipment. You must also turn off all equipment when making repairs. When working in enclosed spaces.

These are just a few of the things that OSHA has come up with. They are a very important government agency. Sometimes workers may think they are just adminestering these laws to be annoying. These laws are necessary. Your employers will think they are too, as they are responsible for your protection.
